About the event

GRRIPP presents a Special Seminar on Tuesday 6 June from 5.00-7.00pm at UCL to discuss the imperative issue of gender equity in climate change. From research and impact to adaptation and resilience, the seminar will address whether there is a strong gender issue, what is being done about it and what can be done.

We are delighted to have Virginia Murray as keynote speaker. Virginia is Head of Global Disaster Risk Reduction at the UK Health Security Agency and Honorary Professor of the UCL IRDR.  She is an expert in public health and disaster medicine and works on knowledge, partnerships, capacity development and implementation of the 2015 UN Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Paris Agreement on Climate Change (COP).

The impacts of climate change are being seen around the world. But impacts of climate change are not “gender neutral”. Women and girls are likely to experience the greatest impacts of climate change.

The seminar is open to all, especially people with an interest in climate change and sustainable development.

The Special Seminar will be followed by a networking reception.
