About the event

At the occasion of its 5th anniversary, the IRDR Centre for Gender and Disaster will host an afternoon of debates on “Gender and Intersectionality Responsive Approaches to Resilience”. The Centre's Director, Professor Maureen Fordham, and team will first give an overview of their current work, highlighting key projects and achievements since the creation of the Centre. We will then bring to the spotlight our biggest project, GRRIPP, by inviting speakers from our commissioned projects in Latin America, Africa and South Asia. Our guests will address the challenges of a gender and intersectional approach to disaster management, and offer ways forward based on their knowledge and experience. We will engage in particular with issues around curriculum design, intersectional policies for women, LGBTQI+ and people with disabilities, and gender-based violence.   Come to learn from and exchange with our amazing speakers!

The seminar will take place in Lecture Theatre MG14 at the University…
